T his practice-oriented course will give the novice to intermediate speaker the opportunity to develop and strengthen skills in preparing and presenting public oral presentations in a variety of situations. Students will explore not only how to inform and entertain but also how to speak to persuade, inspire, and influence positive change for a more just and compassionate world. Through self reflection, peer analysis, and teacher feedback, a student will gain insight into his personal communication strengths while developing growth areas. As part of the expectations of this course, students will be expected to engage in public oral communications outside of the classroom (e.g. school tours, leading prayer, mass readings, etc.). Students may not take Public Speaking as part of their 1 credit senior english requirement if they have taken AP Language and Composition.
